January 19th is the Grand Re-Opening for the Spaaah Shop. We are celebrating all week with 20 % off services in the spa. On January 19th we are going to offer 15% off all of our products except Bare Minerals. We will also have snacks and juice all day on the 19th. We will end our celebration with a ribbon cutting at 5:15 followed by spa tours. Stop by and celebrate with us.

Day 10 of our 12 Days of Christmas sale is “10 Lords a Leaping are in need of some serious foot care”. Yes we know it doesn’t actually fit into the song. We are also aware it isn’t very clever, but we decided to go with it. All Eath Theraputics products are going to be 15% off tomorrow(Wednesday). We will return thursday with a beter lyric for our song.

Hi all, we appolize our updates did not make it to this corner of the web. Our lovely elves and elve helpers have been busy relaxing our stressed holiday patrons. If your interested in seeing what you missed check out our Facebook Page (our elves are addicted to it, so it is always up to date).

Tommorows lyric is “9 ladies bathrobes” 15 % off our new product Wrap Robes. They are made out of a really soft fleece and come in plain colors and animal prints. We even have a giraffe pattern which according to those in the know is this season’s hot animal print.

In other news we are having an exclusive party for our Facebook and blog friends. On December 21^st we are going to have a ladies night out. There will be wine, food, and good conversations over the make-up table. We have recently hired some more people to work up front and they need some faces to practice on. We thought it would be fun to have a party so they can use their extensive training in the Bare Minerals and other lines. Come learn some fun tricks or just make sure you have everything you need. We can do a make-over if you think it is time for a change, or bring in your friend for a make-under if you don’t have the courage to tell them they wear too much eyeliner and their foundation doesn’t really match their skin tone. There is limited space so give us a call to let us know you would like to come. Hope to see you there!

Hi loyal readers
You should come in and say hi to the new owners if you are in the neighborhood. Connie and Richard Imig have been working hard over the last few weeks on their new venture. Connie can be found working behind the registers learning about all of our great products, and Dick is usually slaving over the books in the office. They would love to meet their new customers, and get to know you all better. Let them know what your favorite product or therapist is, or just come chat about the weather. You should also check out the great local art that is filling up the walls in the store and spa. The Spaaah is trying to being in as many local products as possible; let us know what you would like to see here in the store! Also check out our facebook page. It is a great way to find out what is going on in the shop and when we have availability in the Spa.

Wake Me Up When September Ends

You know that song by Green Day? It makes me so sad! It makes me think of all the summers that have gone past. It always goes too fast! Lots of people I know are going through some major changes, and most of them are not positive choices that they made but something that has been pushed upon them. Our economy continues to be shaky and it is scary! People are getting laid off left and right, losing their homes, and having to continually cut back. I know that it will all come out ok in the end, it just might not look the way we wanted it too. The Spaaah Shop & Day Spa is up for sale and I am really hoping to pass the torch to an exciting and dynamic new owner that can continue what I have started!

So for this delicate time, I’ve decided to have the Wake Me Up When September Ends Massage for 2 Hours! It includes a 90 Minute Massage and then 1/2 hour of just quiet NAP TIME in a dark room with nice music. You know when you get done a massage and all you want to do is just lay there and not go anywhere? Well here is your chance! $100. And you are not allowed to answer your cell phone under any circumstance.

Dolphins and the Spaaah Shop

What on earth could dolphins have to do with the Spaaah Shop & Day Spa!?!!!???!!! That seems like a funny connection since Durango, CO is a landlocked state! I grew up on the East Coast, and spent most of my childhood playing on the Chesapeake Bay. My parents and grandmother now live in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Often times dolphins can be seen off the coast. My father and I went out on his small 16 foot boat for Father’s Day and we encountered some dolphins friends who played at the bow. I can’t describe how wonderful it is to have a dolphin look you in the eye. I posted a short clip of our encounter. Dolphins remind me the sheer magic of existence and connectedness of our world. When I first when envisioning the Day Spa, I wanted it to have the feeling of water everywhere because you just can’t get that in Colorado. The colors where chosen because of the direct influence of water. My favorite room is the Ocean Room, which has a large picture of the ocean. There is also a 3Form panel that has shells encased in the plastic. Next time you are in the waiting room, take a good look around. You will see a dolphin picture, and maybe a few other dolphin friends laying around…..

If you have visited the Spaaah Shop, you know that it is an oasis in the middle of downtown Durango! We have several lovely nail service providers, our newest one is Christa! She worked in the Spaaah Shop before as a retail assistant, spent some time away, and then went on to get her nail tech license. We are so glad to have her, but could still use more help! If you know of anyone who would like to work in a really nice place with really nice people send them our way!!!! It is a great job for college students! You can make great money with a flexible schedule. Encourage any young people you know to call and talk about the many opportunities that exist! And it isn’t just for young people either! It would be a great job for anyone! People in Durango are always looking for a way to make money, and let me tell ya, if you get your nail degree the world is your oyster here! It is one of the few areas that demand is not matching supply! Think about it! You could be working at one of the best Durango spa’s in as little as six weeks! It is time to get our your summer feet, so please come in to get your toes all polished and pretty.

What does that mean!? It is the secret to applying your Bare Minerals makeup from Bare Escentuals. Besides being a great downtown Durango spa, we are also a retail store with a gagillion products. We actually started out as just a retail store, back in 2004! The owner is really not a makeup person! Bare Minerals is so EASY that anyone can do it! The owner always says if she can do it anyone can! First step is to come into the store to get your perfect shade picked out. The helpful staff will also give you a mini lesson. When you are using it at home that first thing you want to do is tap some foundation into the lid of the foundation pot. Then you take your flawless face brush and swirl it around in the cap picking up the mineral makeup. Then you tap the brush on the side of the lid. When you look at your brush you should not be able to see to much makeup on the brush as they are tucked into the bristles, and remember a little goes a long way. After your brush is loaded up, you start on the outside of your cheek and make little tiny circles with the brush onto your skin. You keep buffing all the way around your face working from the outside in. Buff buff buff! You can reload the brush halfway through if you feel like you need it. The more you buff the more flawless coverage you get!

Iron Horse Massage

You have been training hard all winter and spring for the Iron Horse. The legs feel like lead. You can feel the lactic acid burn getting out of bed. Your back and neck hurt. Get rid of those aches and pains BEFORE you ride to Silverton. A therapeutic massage can open those muscle up so you can be at your best. Leave the excess tension on our tables.

If you are used to massage getting a massage Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before the Iron Horse is best. If you are not used to regular bodywork, have a massage the week before the ride. Get the most out of all this training. There is a reason why the pros get a massage every chance they can.
